Tools / Keyword search

Find a gene family

Search the release index by gene symbol, identifier, defline, or ontology term. Target a single organism, one ancestral node, or the full release.

Step 2

Search the release index

Enter one or more terms. The index covers ancestral node descriptions, genome records, assembly sources, and named gene families in Metazome release 2.0.4.

Search term

By default, terms are combined with OR. Use a plus sign to require a term or a minus sign to exclude it. Wildcards and quoted phrases are supported.

Search type
Ontology types

Ontology searches return named families from the release index that match the term.

Options
Prepare a BLAST job
About this index. This static edition searches the release index of ancestral nodes, organism records, and named families. It does not query the original sequence database. Sequence level work is prepared on the BLAST page.

Reference

Search syntax

You can enter one or more search terms. By default, these terms are combined with OR, so a record is returned when it matches at least one term. To require that a record match every term, prefix each term with a plus sign. To exclude a term, prefix it with a minus sign. Wildcards are allowed anywhere in a term except as the first character. To match an exact phrase rather than individual terms, place the phrase in quotes. A trailing wildcard is added to each term by default; uncheck the option to disable it.

Ontology formats

OntologyFormat
GORemove the GO:000 prefix, for example 16455 rather than GO:00016455.
PFAMPF01000
PANTHERPTHR19376.SF11 for subfamilies, or PTHR19376 for a family.
EC2.7.1.121
KEGG OrthologyK03085
Cluster KEGG OrthologyK04354 for a fourth level term, or 00453 for a higher level term.

Search results

The original database displayed clusters in pages of 100, ordered from the largest to the smallest cluster. Each row included cluster size, node, identifier, a defline where available, and the distribution of members by organism. This static edition returns release index records: ancestral nodes, genome records, and named families. Read the full search documentation.
